A pet owner expects teeth to be preventively pulled but instead they're all left in

Complaint: Complaint 18-36
Respondent: Richard Crisler
Premises: Brown Road Animal Clinic

The complainants brought their old dog in for a dental and were under the impression that the dog's few remaining teeth would be pulled. They say they asked a variety of questions about helping the dog eat when it no longer had teeth. The dental was done but the dog came back with its few remaining teeth. The complainants were upset as they wanted the teeth pulled and would not have risked a dental in an older dog just to clean the few remaining teeth. The complainant also said that she was originally told that extractions had been done until she learned they weren't.

Crisler says that he did the right thing as the teeth didn't have any problems. He also notes concern about removing healthy teeth attached to potentially problematic bone.

The Investigative Committee said that leaving the teeth in was a positive. They appear to have ignored the complainants' concerns about future anesthetic procedures.
