A dog's bleeding scrotum is nobody's fault because it's everybody's fault

Complaint: Complaint 18-40
Respondent: Jenna Manacki
Premises: Banfield Peoria 5258

The complainant took their dog to Banfield and Manacki neutered the dog. The dog subsequently had a lot of bleeding problems, with the complainants stating they brought the dog back several times for bleeding around the house; they say they needed to use diapers to help soak up some of the blood. The complainants said they finally took the dog to another veterinarian who said it was the worst they'd ever seen.

Manacki's response states that she wasn't the only veterinarian responsible for the dog, that one of her colleagues suggested putting diapers on the dog to soak up the blood, and that scrotal hematomas are not uncommon.

The Investigative Committee found that the complainants exaggerated and that Manacki was inexperienced but had more experienced veterinarians helping her. The Committee also said that the case was not handled appropriately, but since the whole practice and not just Manacki failed the dog, no violations were found.
