Respondent: | Monika Knoblich |
Premises: | All Creatures Veterinary Services |
The complainant's dog suffered some serious leg fractures and was treated by McCally at Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson. The complainant took the dog to Knoblich for the follow-up care. The complainant says a follow-up with McCally discovered that the leg healed with a serious deformity that would require corrective surgery. The complainant also says that McCally said Knoblich was to blame for the deformity and that Knoblich seemed surprised that she could have missed it.
Knoblich says that she initially informed the complainant that the dog should be seen by a specialist but that he went ahead and had her handle the follow-up. She also says the dog's bandage was often filthy and the complainant didn't keep the dog resting during the recovery period as expected. She also says she shouldn't be financially responsible for the corrective surgery.
The Investigative Committee didn't seem like they totally believed Knoblich. The Committee found a failure to provide professionally acceptable procedures as in their view she should have refused to treat the dog altogether if not qualified.
Note that the board order does not appear to be available on the veterinary board's site.
