A clinic has second thoughts about doing a surgery for a particular client

Complaint: Complaint 19-04
Respondent: Erica Cartwright
Premises: Advanced Animal Care

The complainant says that he took his dog in for surgery and paid the charges. He says that when he got home he got a call from his girlfriend stating that they decided they didn't want him in the clinic and that they wouldn't do the surgery. He states that if they had a problem they shouldn't have let him drop off the dog or pay the money in the first place. The complainant believes it's discrimination.

Cartwright states that the owner is the complainant's girlfriend but he's also listed on the account. She states that the complainant brought the dog in alone for an exam and a recurrence of a mammary tumor was suspected. Tooth extractions were also suggested. Surgery was scheduled and the complainant brought the dog in. Cartwright claims that during the check-in process the "owner" (I assume they mean the complainant?) was combative, said that he no longer wanted the extractions done, that he would not give pain medication to the dog, and was "disrespectful and argumentative." She also states that the complainant was difficult at the first visit when he threw money at someone. They decided he was not welcome at the clinic.

The Investigative Committee states that Cartwright had the right to cancel the procedure and refuse service to the complainant.
