This is an anonymous complaint regarding Nelson. Apparently in 2007 there were problems with pain medications not working well at 1st Pet Veterinary Centers in Mesa and Chandler. They thought the drugs may have been diluted. Spencer (the responsible veterinarian) checked this against controlled substance logs and employee records and busted Nelson. Spencer apparently couldn't determine how much was taken, it appears that buprenex, morphine, hydromorphone and possibly diazepam were involved. She was fired and the incident was sent to the DEA for follow-up. It appears that this was actually the second time that Nelson was fired from 1st Pet Veterinary Centers or its predecessor for diverting controlled substances.
Nelson no longer works as a veterinary technician and let her CVT expire. She also now has a better support system and coping tools. As of the report she's working for Antech Diagnostics as the Phoenix and Tucson area territory manager. The Board voted to dismiss with no violations.
A couple of odd things here: One, why did this suddenly come up in 2019 in an anonymous complaint when it happened in 2007? Two, how did she end up back at 1st Pet (First Regional Animal Hospital) a second time if she'd taken their drugs before?
