A dying cat gets turned away by a receptionist and later dies on the road in his person's arms: Part II

Complaint: Complaint 19-80
Respondent: Katherine Goulbourn
Premises: North Valley Pet Hospital
Related: 19-79

The complaint follows from 19-79 but concerns Goulbourn's involvement.

Goulbourn's response is actually much longer than Dean's, the responsible veterinarian for the premises. It looks like there are at least three pages, of which the veterinary board only gives us two. She tells us that the clinic is always under strain but will sometimes see emergency patients from other clinics on Saturdays when possible. She says she's also reviewed the video with the cat and feels that the cat wasn't critical at that time. We're told that per the video the complainants weren't too upset about having to take their cat all the way to Kingman. She tells us the customer service representative, Kristen Hirsch, is very reliable and excellent at triaging patients over the phone; Goulbourn says that if Hirsch didn't think the cat was critical then she believes the cat wasn't critical. We don't get the rest of her response because the vet board didn't send it to us.

The Investigative Committee discussion is basically the same as for 19-79. They find no violations for Goulbourn and helpfully note that she never saw the cat.

(In 21-61, Dr. Kate loses a patient under anesthesia because the anesthesia machine wasn't hooked up.)
