A dog goes in for a dental and comes out with a huge lump on her head and an impacted root: Part II

Complaint: Complaint 20-62
Respondent: Mark Carter
Premises: Prestige Animal Clinic
Related: 20-61

This complaint follows from 20-61 but pertains to the aftercare provided by Carter. The complainant has problems with Carter's follow-up regarding the dog's eyeball swelling and a perceived lack of oversight regarding Barnett's dental procedure.

Carter tells us that he saw the dog three days after Barnett's dental. He says that the left eye was completely swollen shut at this point and he prescribed antibiotics with a special ability to get into abscesses. He says he diagnosed a retrobulbar abscess but also noted cancer was a possibility and recommended getting a CT scan. (What are the odds the dog's eyeball would suddenly be swollen shut from a cancer three days after getting a dental?) He says that the next day the dog came back again and he performed a fine needle aspirate with bloody discharge. The complainant subsequently reported that the dog was doing fine and brought a different dog to the clinic for a nail trim the next month. He tells us that it wasn't his job to be supervising Barnett as he wasn't the premise license holder.

The Investigative Committee discussion is copied and pasted from 20-61.
