The veterinary board investigates a veterinarian for criticizing another veterinarian

Complaint: Complaint 20-64
Respondent: Paul Pullen
Premises: Animal Birth Control of Tucson
Related: 20-10, 20-11

This complaint relates to complaints 20-10 and 20-11. In that case the complainant had to take her dog to another veterinarian, Pullen. She said that Pullen told her the veterinarians were incompetent, or something to that effect. The veterinary board was so concerned to hear this that they voted to investigate Pullen instead.

Pullen's response states that he didn't even know who the veterinarians were and that the complainant was very angry in his office. He tells us that he had not even seen the lab results or the records. When the complainant asked what to do he said that he told her she should take the lab results, the medical records, and the dog to a board certified specialist because the mouth was not healing properly. He says that he never said the veterinarians committed malpractice.

There's no Investigative Committee discussion as this went straight to the Board. We also learn in the findings of fact that Pullen's letter regarding 20-10 and 20-11 stated that in his opinion Wells and Gammill (the veterinarians in the complaint) had tried to fix something that should have been sent to a specialist instead. The board voted to dismiss with no violation.
