A complainant says she was preyed upon by veterinarians who never told her the whole story

Complaint: Complaint 20-95
Respondent: Katheryne Kasper
Premises: Animal Medical Center of Casa Grande

The complainant asks why her dog was put through a bunch of tests when she was going to die anyway. She says that she understands that they were going to make her dog comfortable but in the end "she could go home and pass away." She says that veterinarians give false hope to owners and they spend lots of money. She writes the exact hour and minute that her dog died and notes that she had just brought her dog home about two hours earlier. She says they preyed on her heart and took her money and that it is shameful. There's also an attached letter written to Kasper and her staff asking for her dog's medical records.

Kasper's response states that the dog came to her clinic several times for wellness exams, vaccines, and heartworm testing and prevention. She says the complainant declined heartworm testing and prevention on a regular basis. She also says the dog was known to have a heart murmur on multiple visits and that the complainant said she would monitor for cardiac issues. She says that the complainant also turned down a referral to a cardiologist. (The findings of fact state that the complainant said she was never warned about a heart murmur.)

The Investigative Committee said that while there was a "difference in remembrance" regarding the communication between the veterinarians and the complainant, there were two veterinarians and what they said matched the medical records. No violations were found.
