The Board warns Refaat Reed Ishak not to advertise himself as "Doctor Reed" in marketing materials

Complaint: Complaint 21-33
Respondent: Refaat Ishak
Premises: Unknown

This is an investigation the Board itself opened. Refaat Ishak, a frequent respondent in Board matters, was said to be using his middle name, Reed; indeed, he is said to be using his name as "Dr. Reed" and not mentioning either the Refaat or the Ishak. At this point there was concern and an investigation was launched!

Ishak writes back that people have always had a problem using Refaat Ishak as his name; it's not a particularly easy name for many people to pronounce, and he also notes that he has gone by "Reed" for much of his life. He points out that his veterinary license was even issued to Refaat Reed Ishak. He also says that he only offers in-home euthanasia and cremation services and isn't doing anything to violate the terms of his board order. (The Findings of Fact state that he also updated his website to use his complete name.)

The Board voted to send a Letter of Concern.
