Respondent: | Jeffrey Eubank |
Premises: | Samaritan Veterinary Center |
The complainant tells us that her dog ate a battery. Being an emergency, she called the local vet clinic and was told there was nothing they could do; the dog needed to go to an emergency clinic, and the nearest emergency clinic was over an hour away. She was very upset at this news and said that she understood, but also appears to state that in emergency situations the clinic would still treat their own patients. She notes that she began to cry and asked the clinic whether her dog whether the dog would even make it to the city, and she states that they told her "we don't know."
The response from Jeffrey Eubank is somewhat thin, only noting that the dog had never been a patient there, had no patient records, and that no date for the call was provided so they also can't find the call. He also notes that "[i]t is our procedure to offer appropriate referral information when we cannot provide a service requested." (The findings of fact state that the dog did make it to 1st Pet Veterinary Centers, where he triaged and "diverted due to the stable condition" with advice to monitor at home.)
There was no Investigative Committee discussion on this complaint. It went to the Board and was dismissed.
