Two different accounts emerge when a false pregnancy turns out to be a real one

Complaint: Complaint 22-117
Respondent: Timothy Chiasson
Premises: Exceptional Pets Green Valley

The complainant says that he strongly suspected his dog was pregnant, so he took the dog to Chiasson for x-rays and ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy. He says that Chiasson told him they didn't do ultrasounds and that x-rays indicated a false pregnancy. He was told not to change anything and come back if there were problems. The dog continued to develop more pregnancy symptoms and reached out to Chiasson; we're told that he didn't respond until after they were closed and said it would be five days to get him in. The dog subsequently went into labor and delivered six puppies, later going on to have another five puppies after an emergency C-section. He says that his dog had previously given birth without a C-section but had been given quality prenatal care and proper nutrition; he blames Chiasson for not finding the pregnancy and for failing to adequately help the dog prior to giving birth. He believes Chiasson should be responsible for all the costs.

Chiasson's response is very short. He states that he did see the dog several times to diagnose a pregnancy, but as the complainant couldn't provide timelines for the possible pregnancy, it was difficult to investigate. X-rays revealed nothing and he claims (contrary to complainant) that he offered ultrasound that was turned down. He also says that he never texts with clients so he's not sure who the complainant was texting.

Neither the complainant nor Chiasson showed up for the Investigative Committee hearing, yet adopted Chiasson's version of events wholesale. They state as fact that an ultrasound was turned down and also said that the dog's diet was changed as Chiasson told the complainant to treat the dog as if pregnant. They did have concerns other testing wasn't offered to diagnose a pregnancy, but as (according to them) the complainant's main complaint was the lack of a pregnancy-focused diet, there was nothing to worry about here.

This may be one of our last complaints regarding Exceptional Pets Green Valley. It appears to have gone out of business. Indeed, as of late 2023 it appears that pet friend Robyn Jaynes' former side gig is down to two locations. Perhaps it wasn't so exceptional after all.
