Respondent: | Garrel Geiger |
Premises: | Geiger Veterinary Mobile Clinic |
The complainant says that her dog had rabies and parvo shots on earlier occasions, but after receiving the same shots at Geiger's mobile clinic the dog came home with a bald spot on her face. She knows the dog didn't have it before because the dog had just gotten washed, and she also says because the dog wiggles a lot she had a harness on the dog. The complainant raises concerns that the dog was held by her hair while getting the shots, leading to the bald spot; the dog also shakes her head a lot now. She called for information and said that while the dog had been held during the injections it was probably an allergic reaction to the shots, so she called back asking for names and records and got no response. We're also told that an assistant working that day dragged a dog across the floor so hard that the collar popped off the neck.
Geiger's response notes that the clinic was operating under COVID restrictions, and in any event the complainant never asked to accompany her pets. He says that the complainant was already upset with the long wait time at the clinic, going on to state that all the complainants' dogs were handled with minimal restraint. There's no record of the complainant calling the clinic and requesting records or a call back. He hopes that the complainant will find a clinic that is more suitable for her needs as pets cannot be held by owners while getting injections at his clinic. He also says that owners often push or pull their pets into the treatment area; the employee the complainant was concerned about has since moved out of state, but he's going to address ethical handling with all staff.
It's an Investigative Division report with no Investigative Committee discussion.
