A rejected refill request leads to a veterinary board complaint: Part II

Complaint: Complaint 18-44
Respondent: Kristine Heitman
Premises: Ocotillo Animal Clinic and Pet Resort
Related: 18-43

The complainant from 18-43 called a second time to get refills for her dog; she says the dog was becoming depressed as her urinary issues were becoming more severe without the medication. For this request Heitman refused the refill and was therefore named in the complaint.

Heitman's response states that she's never even seen the complainant and her dog and reiterates Beck that the dog was overdue for an annual checkup. She also mentions the records transfer.

The Investigative Committee's discussion is the same as 18-43, noting that there's no law for the amount of time required to maintain a valid client relationship, but that the clinic can set the rules it wants. They also again seem to state that the complainant severed the relationship simply by having her records transferred to another clinic.
