A complainant has concerns about a misaligned tooth and rectal bleeding: Part II

Complaint: Complaint 19-67
Respondent: Lori Hehn
Premises: Canyon Animal Hospital
Related: 19-66

This complaint follows from 19-66 and concerns Lori Hehn's portion of the matter.

Lori Hehn's response begins with the dental. She states that the complainant misperceived the jaw as being out of alignment because the tooth made it look that way. The actual jaw was fine. She also says she tried to tell the complainant that a dental gel was used instead of dental cement. Regarding the remainder of the complaint, she says that the drugs should have been out of the dog's system by the time the symptoms presented. She also says that she repeatedly told the complainant to take the dog to emergency but that she initially did not because she thought the dog was dying. She does agree that the conversation became somewhat heated but not nearly to the extent that the complainant indicates. She also says that the complainant had been bringing her dog there for three years since the dental in question and asks why she would do so if she has so many concerns about the practice. She concludes by stating that she believes the complaint is a reflection of the complainant's character.

The Investigative Committee said that it was too bad communications between the complainant and Hehn were poor but that it wasn't a violation. They said that no medical mismanagement occurred. The Findings of Fact state that the medication provided was prescribed at a safe dose, so we're left wondering where all that diarrhea and blood came from.
