A critically ill cat gets turned away from a veterinary hospital because of a prior personal dispute: Part II

Complaint: Complaint 20-70
Respondent: William Langhofer
Premises: Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic
Related: 20-69

This complaint follows on from 20-69 and pertains to Langhofer's duty as the responsible veterinarinan for the premises.

Langhofer begins by stating that he's the responsible veterinarian but never saw the cat. Langhofer tells us that the complainant was already aware that he was "fired" from the hospital because of "impatient, rude, and unpleasant behavior." It appears that written notice was sent in the mail. He says that the night of the incident in the complaint the complainant called the clinic several times but would not identify who he was. He also said the clinic had never provided care to the cat in question prior to that night. He also says upon arrival the clinic took $400 and had Majoue examine the cat. He includes the medical records she entered that night and they're quite the read. Apparently the cat couldn't stand, was having tonic tremors every two seconds, and was too weak to hold his body weight, yet Majoue decided the cat was well enough to send off to VCA ARECA instead. Langhofer also says that once at VCA ARECA the complainant had no money to pay for any treatment and elected to euthanize the cat. (How did Langhofer learn about the complainant's financial straits at VCA ARECA?) He also says that he spoke to Lopez, the cat's regular veterinarian, who said that Langhofer's clinic did everything they were required to do. (This is exactly opposite of what the complainant says Lopez told him in 20-69.)

The Investigative Committee discussion stated that they had no concerns with Langhofer as the responsible veterinarian.
