A dog's pyometra surgery results in complications and a complainant fears a conspiracy: Part V

Complaint: Complaint 18-113
Respondent: Michael Ferrera
Premises: Squaw Peak Animal Hospital
Related: 18-109, 18-110, 18-111, 18-112

This complaint follows from the others in this series. It specifically relates to Ferrera, the veterinarinan who saw the dog after complications set in. She states that the dog worsened and was taken to Ferrera's clinic found peritonitis and fluid in the abdomen. She goes on to state that during exploratory surgery she was called into the operating room and was told by Ferrera that it was the worst he'd ever seen. She also claims he asked "what did they do to her" and implied that the problem had resulted from something that went wrong at VetMed. She believes that Ferrera later conspired with VetMed to sweep things under the rug.

Ferrera states that many of the complainant's claims are taken out of context and that in many cases were never said at all. He details the background behind his workup and the resulting surgery and states that he told the complainant that he would inform her of the culture results when they came in from VetMed. He also states that he did tell the complainant that he was a friend of Robertson (at VetMed) for many years but did not know Radlinsky. He also states that the complainant began sending a large number of negative emails regarding VetMed and that he alerted Robertson to his concerns that she was trying to blame them. He says that she then went after him and believes that she's just trying to recover her costs. He concludes that her account is a "distorted, paranoid reality" and that he believes "this is when the Veterinary Board should stand up for the Veterinarians that do so much for people and their pets in difficult situations, only to be put in a bad light by emotionally unstable clients."
